Dr. Lisa Barber

A native of New York City, Oncologist, Dr. Barber attended Swarthmore College to receive an undergraduate degree in Biology, before receiving her DVM degree from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. During her college years, Dr. Barber did graduate work in veterinary epidemiology and was a member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society. She pursued a small-animal internship followed by a residency in medical oncology at the University of Pennsylvania, and then served as a staff oncologist until 2001.

Dr. Barber has an extensive amount of oncology training and experience including working as a faculty member and section head of oncology service at Tufts University, as well as continuing to work as an adjunct professor at Tufts University.

Her professional interest includes both innovative therapies for the treatment of cancer in companion animals and palliative care, but her primary focus is preserving and enhancing quality of life in pets with cancer. She is also a proud member of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, the Veterinary Cancer Society, the Oncology Pathology Working Group, and the World Association of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine! Dr. Barber currently lives with two rescue cats, Ivy and Rose.
