Dr. Alexandra Hartzell

Alexandra Hartzell, VMD is an emergency veterinarian at Mount Laurel Animal Hospital. Dr. Hartzell grew up in Lewisburg, PA.

After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 with a Biological Basis of Behavior degree, Dr. Hartzell stayed at the University of Pennsylvania to pursue her veterinary interests. Dr. Hartzell graduated in May 2021 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine as a member of the Phi Zeta veterinary honors society.

Before becoming a veterinarian Dr. Hartzell worked for several years as a mobile equine veterinarian assistant during her summers off from school. Dr. Hartzell also spent a year doing research at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center and was a veterinary assistant for the ophthalmology department at Penn Vet during her time in veterinary school. Dr. Hartzell’s professional veterinary interests include emergency medicine, critical care, and pain management.

Outside of working in veterinary medicine, Dr. Hartzell and her fiancé Conor love to play video games, explore Philadelphia, and spend time with their pup Joey!
