Dr. Katie Heidgerd

Dr. Heidgerd joined Mount Laurel Animal Hospital in 2025 as a full-time surgeon with a strong interest and passion in thoracic surgery, soft tissue, and orthopedic surgery. Dr. Heidgerd’s mom was a veterinary technician, and her dad was a small animal general practice veterinarian, so she grew up in the field and always wanted to be a veterinarian!

Growing up in Bridgewater, New Jersey, Dr. Heidgerd worked as a veterinary technician in small animal private practices. She also rode horses and competed in college on both the English and Western teams! Additionally, Dr. Heidgerd volunteered at New Bolton as an OR nurse assistant and raised two dogs for The Seeing Eye.

Dr. Heidgerd graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in pre-veterinary medicine with a minor in biology at the University of Delaware, before graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. She shares her home with her German Shepherd named Meadow. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Heidgerd loves spending time outside, whether it is hiking or going to the beach, and also enjoys attending football and baseball games!
