Dr. Sonni Bocchinfuso

Dr. Sonni Bocchinfuso, VMD, is a full-time emergency and critical care fellow at Mount Laurel Animal Hospital.

Growing up in Montgomery County, PA, Dr. Bocchinfuso always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian and began pursuing a career in it at a young age. She started working in veterinary hospitals at the age of 16 years old and at 18 years old, she became a veterinary technician. She continued to work as a technician all throughout her undergraduate studies and veterinary school, obtaining a large amount of clinical experience. Dr. Bocchinfuso also spent time volunteering at animal shelters, zoos, dairy farms, and performed veterinary-based research prior to veterinary school. During veterinary school, Dr. Bocchinfuso externed at Mount Laurel Animal Hospital, as well as spent 4 weeks externing at Brandywine SPCA focusing on high-quality, high-volume shelter surgery.

“I have always been drawn to the human-animal bond, it’s a very special thing. It brings me joy knowing I can advocate and speak for those that can’t speak for themselves. Animals do speak, but only to those that listen.”

She completed her undergraduate studies at Pennsylvania State University in December 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Following her time at the Pennsylvania State University, she went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in May 2023. She is additionally a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and her professional interests include small animal emergency and critical care, surgery, neurology, dermatology, and behavioral sciences.

Dr. Bocchinfuso enjoys hiking with her dog, reading new books, binging the newest shows, cooking, baking, trying new restaurants, football Sundays, and traveling.

Dr. Bocchinfuso shares her home with Ginger, her Labrador Retriever mix who is 9 years old, and her two cats, Theo and Poosh.
