Dr. Jennifer Bornkamp
Dr. Jenn Bornkamp is a native of Bergen County, NJ, who spent lots of time with family in Manahawkin while growing up. In 1999, she received a degree in animal science from Delaware Valley College, and attended the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated in 2009.
She realized she wanted to be a veterinarian when her childhood dog, Sandy, was diagnosed with lupus. “We had to visit a veterinary specialist in New York City, and that was when I realized that veterinarians can do anything. To this day, I love being able to provide anesthesia, pain management, emergency medicine and preventative care,” says Dr. Bornkamp.
Her professional interests also include integrative medicine, geriatric medicine and mentoring prospective and current veterinary students, as well as fellow veterinarians. Dr. Bornkamp finds helping pets and their owners to have a long, healthy journey together to be especially rewarding.
In her leisure time, she enjoys kayaking, paddle boarding and hiking, and has a goal of running a half marathon in each of the 50 states (so far, she’s up to 8). She’s a fan of the New Jersey Devils hockey team, and loves the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as hanging out with her terrier mixes Odie and Marty McFly, and cats Mosquito, Moxa, Tiva Marie and Taco.
