Dr. Meryl Gupta
Growing up in Long Island and then central Jersey, Dr. Gupta has loved animals from a young age. Volunteering at the local animal shelter, and then at the emergency room at the Veterinary Hospital of Pennsylvania, solidified her commitment to caring for animals. Combining her love of animals, science, and a wish to help those who cannot help themselves led Dr. Gupta to a career in veterinary medicine.
In 1997, Dr. Gupta graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a double major in Biology and Biochemistry. She then proceeded to the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine. While there, Dr. Gupta earned the Bruce J. Heim Dean's Scholarship, the Coult Scholarship, made the Dean’s List, and participated in the National Institute of Health Summer Research Training Program. She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2001 and joined our veterinary team in November 2003.
Dr. Gupta feels that the most exciting aspects of veterinary medicine is its constant challenges and variety from never knowing what will walk through the door next. However, what is most rewarding is helping a sick patient recover, and to see the joy of the family at having their beloved pet healthy again.
Dr. Gupta's professional interests are emergency and critical care and dentistry. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the South Jersey Veterinary Medical Association, and Autism New Jersey.
Dr. Gupta shares her home with her husband Kushol, two children (Chloe and Deven), two dogs (Jada and Jonah), and one cat (Moo). Her hobbies include spending time with her family (both two- and four-legged members), going to the movies, updating her house, and reading fantasy novels.
