Dra. Meryl Gupta
Dr. Gupta grew up on Long Island and later in Central New Jersey, where her love for animals began at a young age. Early volunteer experiences at her local animal shelter and later at the emergency room of the University of Pennsylvania’s Veterinary Hospital confirmed her dedication to animal care. Her deep interest in science, combined with a desire to help those who cannot help themselves, naturally led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
She graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997 with a double major in Biology and Biochemistry. She then continued on to the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. During her time there, Dr. Gupta received the Bruce J. Heim Dean's Scholarship, the Coult Scholarship, and participated in the National Institutes of Health Summer Research Training Program. She was also recognized on the Dean’s List for her academic achievements.
Dr. Gupta joined our veterinary team in November 2003. She enjoys the ever-changing nature of veterinary medicine, where no two days are the same. What she finds most rewarding, however, is helping sick patients recover and witnessing the happiness it brings to their families.
Her professional interests include emergency and critical care, and she is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the South Jersey Veterinary Medical Association, Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, and Autism New Jersey.
At home, Dr. Gupta enjoys spending time with her husband Kushol, her son Deven, her father-in-law, and her two dogs, Yondu and Mia. Her daughter, Chloe, lives nearby. In her free time, she enjoys home improvement projects, reading fantasy novels, and is an Irish Wolfhound enthusiast.
