Dr. Khush Banajee
Khush was born in Bombay, India, but was raised in the suburbs of New Orleans, Louisiana. There, he developed his love for animals and quickly realized that his dream was to be a veterinarian. He attended Veterinary School at Louisiana State University, where he rarely missed a football game, graduating in 2008. After Veterinary School, he did a small animal rotating internship at the University of Illinois, before returning Louisiana State University (and LSU football) to do a Clinical Pathology Residency, earning board certification in 2012. Following his residency, Khush completed a PhD at Louisiana State University, working with tick-borne Rickettsia evaluating the ability of ticks to alter the host-pathogen interaction while feeding. One of his favorite activities during this program was collecting saliva from ticks. After completing his degree, Khush joined Antech Diagnostics and has been working out of Mount Laurel Animal Hospital since 2018.
Khush has published several peer-reviewed papers both in the fields of clinical pathology as well as rickettsiology. He has also held memberships in many societies including JAVMA, ACVP, ASVCP, ASR, and ASTMH and serves as a reviewer for Veterinary Clinical Pathology. In addition to tick-borne rickettsial disease, Khush’s professional interests include diagnostic cytology and hematology.
Khush is avid sports fan and loves rooting on the Saints and LSU Tigers. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and son and the occasional game of golf in his free time.
