Dr. Maxwell Bergmann

Maxwell Bergmann, MVB is an Exotics Veterinarian at Mount Laurel Animal Hospital. Dr. Bergmann grew up in East Hampton, New York.

Dr. Bergmann is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Veterinary Information Network, Wildlife Disease Association, and the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians. His professional veterinary interests include exotic animal medicine, emergency medicine, surgery, shelter medicine, and pathology.

After graduating from George Washington University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Russian Language & Literature and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology, Dr. Bergmann went on to pursue veterinary interests at the University College Dublin. He graduated from veterinary school in 2017. After veterinary school, Dr. Bergmann worked in mixed and zoo animal practice in New Zealand. He then moved to the UK to work with exotic animals as well as dogs and cats. Finally, he did a specialty internship in Avian & Exotic Animal Medicine at MSPCA Angell before joining Mount Laurel Animal Hospital.

Before becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Bergmann first worked with farm animals and horses in France. After spending time in France, he then became a veterinary assistant at an animal hospital in Philadelphia. During his time in veterinary school at the University College Dublin, he volunteered at the Cape Wildlife Center, Black Beauty Ranch, the South Florida Wildlife Center, and the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand!

Dr. Bergmann shares his home with two domestic shorthairs, Cid and Kookie. He has had them for 11 years and they have traveled the world with him! Outside of veterinary interests, Dr. Bergmann spends his time scuba diving, cooking, dancing, hiking, swimming, and playing chess.
