Presentation Overview
Program Description: This is a two-part, one-hour lecture on Neurologic Exam and Neurolocalization (30 minutes each) provided by Tara Tischio, DVM, DACVIM (Neurology)
Program Agenda:
- Goals of the neurologic exam
- Identifying neurologic dysfunction
- Determining the location of the lesion
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the Goals of the Neurologic Exam
Attendees will gain a thorough understanding of the goals of a neurologic exam. These goals include palpation, assessing a patient’s mentation and behavior, gait/posture, postural reactions, reflexes, cranial nerves, and pain/sensation. - Identify Neurologic Dysfunction
Participants will learn how to identify what is normal and abnormal, and if the problem is neurological. - Determine the location of the lesion
By the end of the lecture, veterinarians will be able to determine if the problem is in the central nervous system or peripheral nervous system and whether it is located in the brain, spinal cord, nerve, muscle, or neuromuscular joint.
Open to all veterinary professionals.
