Dr. Colette Friedenson

Colette Friedenson, VMD, MPH is delighted to be joining the Mount Laurel Animal Hospital team, a place near and dear to her heart! Dr. Friedenson is passionate about emergency medicine, surgery, exotics, and public health.

Prior to attending vet school, Dr. Friedenson received her Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology at Columbia University with a focus on zoonotic diseases (infectious agents spread from animals to humans). She also completed a prestigious internship at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland and served as a Project Manager at a non-profit organization based out of New York City. Her passion to protect the health of the human-animal bond led her to pursue veterinary school. Dr. Friedenson has published several articles in peer-reviewed research journals.

While attending the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Friedenson served on the student government and was the President of the One Health Club. Dr. Friedenson also worked as a veterinary nurse in the areas of surgical oncology, ophthalmology, and emergency medicine at both MLAH and Penn Vet Ryan Hospital. Dr. Friedenson received several scholarships during her veterinary education including the American Association of Food Safety and Public Health Veterinarians Student Scholarship. She also volunteered at local animal shelters performing over 60 spays and neuters, as well as the Penn Vet Grief Support Hotline helping pet owners during bereavement. Dr. Friedenson holds certifications in Bovine Artificial Insemination and Fear FreeSM animal handling. She also has love and patience for pets who are nervous at vet visits.

Dr. Friedenson lives in West Philadelphia with her husband, Tslil, her new baby daughter, Lila, and her two red-eared slider turtles, Myrtle and Billy. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, going to live theater, and trying out new recipes.
